____________________________________________________

Welcome to Polygone 3D. This file contains information on how to install and play Polygone 3D as well as how to buy the full game quickly and easily online or by phone.

For latest information please visit www.OxideGames.com

System Requirements
____________________________________________________
Polygone requires Microsoft DirectX 8.0 or above installed on the machine.
This can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com/directx.

Suitable operating systems:
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows ME
Windows XP (Home or Professional)

Recommended Hardware Requirements:

400 MHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
48 MB of system memory
16 MB Video card with DirectX 8.0 compatible drivers
15 MB of free hard disk space
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
Keyboard (or optional windows compatible controller)

As the power of a computer varies with the combination of each part, it is recommended that you try out the demo on your machine before purchase. A slower PC may be suitable if it has a good 3D acceleration card.

There are 3 different game styles, Polyfun, Polygone and Polypower, which can be selected when you select PLAY from the main menu.

POLYFUN
_______

Use the arrow keys to move Polyboy around the arena. When you are facing a block you wish to move, press and hold the HOLD key. Now when you move, the block will move with you, so you can place it in the arena.
When you move a block next to a block of the same colour they will join and move together. You must use this ability to make the shape that is shown in the NOW slot on the screen. When you have made the right shape it will disappear, and new blocks will appear, together with a different shape to make. You must make the shape before the timer bar on the left falls to the bottom. If you join the blocks together wrongly, you can push them off the arena and they will fall back down separated.

If you get a high score you will be asked to enter your name. Type in your name and press Enter. You can view the high scores from the main menu.

POLYGONE
________

This is the main game. Blocks will slowly fall into the arena at regular intervals. Just like Polyfun, you must make the required shape to remove them from the arena. The game continues to drop blocks into the arena more quickly as the levels increase. You go up a level when you complete 10 shapes, and get some FREETIME to tidy up your arena before the blocks begin to fall again (shown by the bar on the top right).
If you have already made the NEXT shape and then complete the NOW shape you will get a MULTI bonus (x2, x3 ...) for chaining the shapes. You can have longer chains if there are more shapes that match the new NOW shapes.
You can push blocks off the arena, but they will fall back down. If they are a valid shape they will disappear, but you will not get any score (can be useful to make space). If you join 7 blocks together they will begin to flash. Push this "Lucky 7" off and they will disappear. If 8 or more join they will break up and fall back into the arena.

POLYPOWER
_________

These are single rounds, which require just 10 shapes to complete. Each round has different requirements and settings of varying difficulty. There are 40 rounds to complete, with the next one opening when you complete each round. Your progress is automatically saved as you complete each round. Every 10 rounds are shown as stars on one of 4 towers.

BATTLE - 2 Player game (Full version only)
______

The battle games allow you to play Polyfun or Polygone against another player on the same PC. In Polyfun you are both trying to build the same shape, with the winner being the first to build 10 shapes.
In Polygone you are again trying to build the same shape but the winner will get his blocks dropped on their opponents screen. There are no other ways to remove blocks from the arena (Lucky 7 is disabled).

Options
_______

BLOCK SET... - Choose which set you want with the left and right keys, or press return to view the different sets. There are 3 sets of shapes you can use to play the game (Full version only).
Normal - Shapes made from 4 blocks (7 shapes)
5 Set  - Shapes made from 5 blocks (9 shapes)
3D Set - Shapes made from 5 blocks in 3 dimensions (9 shapes)

CHALLENGE - When a challenge number is selected the game will always use the same order of coloured blocks in each game. This allows you to repeat a game exactly to try and get the best score for the same game. You can then challenge another player to get a better score with the same game settings.

STYLE - The game has a selection of block styles for you to choose from (The demo has only 3).

CONTROLS... - This takes you to the control options screen. From here you can choose to use the keyboard or a controller to play the game. The controller must be configured within windows before you start the game. You can also change the keys you use on the keyboard or the controller. Simply select which control you wish to change, press return, and press the new key.

DETAIL - If the game seems slow on your machine, select LOW detail.

MUSIC - You can turn the music on or off from here, as well as with F5.

Troubleshooting
____________________________________________________

Please try the following:

Check you have the latest drivers for you video and sound card. Visit the manufacturers websites to download their latest versions. Many problems are solved this way.

Restart your machine, and ensure that no unnecessary programs are also running.

Check our website (www.OxideGames.com) for the latest version of the game. You can find the version number from the top of this file or when you select Quit in the game.

Ensure all your hardware is working under DirectX. From the Start menu, select "Run..." and type "dxdiag" and press OK. This starts a diagnostic tool that can check that your machine is working correctly with DirectX.
If the program seems to run very slowly it may be because you do not have the required 16MB of video RAM. DXDiag can tell you how much memory your machine has (Under the Display tab).

If the game runs but the controls do not seem to work, try pressing Alt+Tab once, or re-run the game.

Uninstall the game completely using the icon in the Start Menu or through "Control Panel->Add and Remove Programs". Reinstall the program and try again. If you have bought the product this will not lose your purchase as long as it is on the same machine.

If you have any problems with purchasing, please visit www.Softwrap.com .
